How to Repair Knots and Cracks in Wood Production

Budak cavity and cracks are the natural character of wood; but it can affect subsequent processes with surface quality in furniture, panel, flooring and chopping production. Successful repair, the cavity does not fill alone; hold on the bottom surface, processed fast and behaves in the sand-paint line with the environment wood.

Evaluate damage and moisture

Loose fiber, resin, dust and brittle edges should be cleaned before repair. Very humid or the surface can weaken the dirty wood. The depth of the fracture should be determined if the six is open, and the next planning of the part should be determined. Only cosmetic surface defects with movable structural cracks should be treated with the same method.

How does hot melt repair system work?

The melted repair bar in the compatible aplicator is applied to the cavity controlled. When filling the material defect, the edges should not be wet; the air should not leave the pocket. Cooling block or convenient cooling method accelerates hardening and keeps the surface flat. After overhanging, the environment is aligned with sanding.

Color and machinability

Color selection should not be made according to the naked wood image alone; the contrast may vary after oil, paint or varnish. Open, dark or mixed shades should be controlled by finished surface in small trial piece. Cutting and sanding behaviour of the repair material should be suitable for tool permission and production speed.

Process standard

Applicator temperature, filling order, cooling time, cutting angle and abrasive step should be written to work instruction. Quality criterion is not only closing of the cavity; the edge should be up, color harmony, surface collapse and final floor appearance. It facilitates operator decision to store accepted samples for different types of wood.

Application control list

  • Control moisture, resin and loose fibers.
  • Determine the appropriate filling technique for damage depth.
  • Test the color with the final surface treatment.
  • Standardize cooling and cutting time.
  • Create accepted sample and flaw criteria.

Conclusion

It is important to hold on the bottom surface, processability and finished appearance, up to speed in buck and crack repair. System application converts defect into a repeatable production step.
