Applications of Hot Melt Adhesives in Furniture Manufacturing

Hot melt in furniture production; it provides quick fixing from flooring layers to decorative parts, profile and light assembly to packaging steps. The most important advantage is that it can carry the part to the next station in a short time without requiring long waiting or solvent flight in the correct application.

Flooring and wide surfaces

Spray hot melt in sponge, felt and fabric combinations can cover wide area with low grammage. The open time of the adhesive is enough to position the layers of the operator; the hardened bond line should not break the living comfort. Criteria such as passing to the fabric should be tested on product basis, such as color change and high temperature scent.

Profile and decorative assembly

Wood, MDF, plastic or textile details, bead or dot application offers quick first retention. Surface finish and powder can change performance. If the load is constantly peeled, or the service temperature is high, it should not be trusted to hold the first alone; long-term behavior and hybrid fixing should be assessed if necessary.

Temporary gripping and production aids

Hot melt can be used to keep the part in place up to mechanical fixing, stitching or other adhesive curing. In this case, the purpose is to facilitate the installation of the final structural load. The effect of the temporary connection to the next process, surface finish, or detachable requirement should be checked in advance.

Correct system selection

Small spotive works with 12 mm apliator, with a long bead and high-cycle system, large areas can be carried out more efficiently with spray equipment. Product selection should be open time, viscosity, heat resistance and surface harmony; equipment selection should be based on hour consumption and pattern requirement.

Application control list

  • Gradually classify the connection.
  • Test real surfaces such as sponge-fabric-MDF.
  • Match open time with operator assembly time.
  • Compare beads, dot and spray patterns with grammar.
  • Verify the service temperature and load direction.

Conclusion

Hot melt provides speed and flexibility in the production of furniture, but apparent trace when product and equipment are selected according to the application, poor surface wet or unnecessary consumption may occur.

Manstechnic approach

Manstechnic determines the combination of aplicator with appropriate tecbond formulation by making surface and cycle analysis in the furniture process.
