How to Read an Adhesive Technical Data Sheet: A TDS Guide
Technical Data Foam (TDS) summarizes the typical properties of a adhesive, recommended process range and application recommendations. TDS is not a quality certificate, lot analysis report or security document. The most accurate use is to match data with its own process requirement and verify critical points with sample test.
Product ID and revision
Product code, full name, document date and revision number should be checked. Similar or regional formulations can carry different data. It is risky to evaluate the new lot with an old man. Current document from the official technical library of the supplier must be received and the version should be recorded in the approval file.
Specification difference with typical value
Viscosity in TDS is the typical laboratory value of time, open time or strength; it may not be the accepted range guaranteed for each lot. 'Typical' should be divided into 'nominal' and 'specification' expressions. If you need critical purchase criteria, the manufacturer should be written with the specification and the analysis certificate should be cleared if necessary.
Number without conditions is missing
With viscosity measurement temperature, resistance surface preparation and test speed, open time application quantity and test method together with meaning. Softening point is not direct service temperature. If the units and methods are different, the numbers of two products can not be taken by side.

The recommended temperature and surface preparation is safe starting parameter. Then a verification matrix is prepared with actual surface, cycle time, minimum-max service condition and load direction. Success criterion should include bond force, break mode, appearance, cycle and consumable. TDS approval does not replace field test.
