Choosing Adhesives for Mattress Production: Foam, Felt, and Fabric Applications

Adhesive in the production of bed; different density sponges, felt, fabric and wood components together when necessary. Due to the wide surface, flexible material and operator assembly, the application pattern should be evaluated together with the first holding and working environment.

Every layer does not behave the same

The clear cell sponge can absorb adhesive, dense felt can be less wet, and it can turn into a visible quality defect in fine fabric. Sample selection should exceed the material name; density, surface treatment, color, thickness and supplier variation. It is important for the comfort and durability of the bond line during the stretch of layers.

Advantage of spray application

Swirl or spray pattern makes it easy to deploy low and balanced grammage to large area. Fine filaments can be reduced risk in heat sensitive foams because it can cool faster; it can also be recognized when positioning to the operator with long-term formulations. If the pattern width and capping rate is not consistent, it consists of dry zones or unnecessary consumption.

Open time and mounting ergonomics

With the beginning of the application in large bedroom layers, the final part passes significantly. If the product does not comply with the actual operator cycle, the edges are frozen early or the parts are fixed late. Not only connect force in the trial; the repositionability of the part should be evaluated, the operating tempo and access distance of the operator.

Quality and process verification

Adhesion test should be done in different sponge tear directions, edge loads and repeat compression. Odor, color transfer, passing to fabric and hot storage behavior should be examined according to product requirement. The application grammometer is measured per bed and the optimum spot between visible quality and price.

Application control list

  • Type sponge density and fabric type into sample plan.
  • Select open time to actual assembly time.
  • Fix spray pattern width and cover rate.
  • Repeat compression and edge load test.
  • Watch Gram/letax, reprocessing and operator time together.

Conclusion

The choice of bed adhesive is not looking for the first to hold alone. Flexibility, wide surface covering, operator time and low process loss should be balanced together.

Manstechnic approach

Manstechnic supports the selection of products and spray equipment by matching the sponge-coating combination with the application format on the field.
